Irreversible elements

Main character's name

The name of the main character given at the start of the game cannot be changed during the game.

If you transfer the data from Suikoden I to Suikoden II, the main character from Suikoden I will also appear in Suikoden II, and you can recruit the main character from Suikoden II in Suikoden II (he will also join your battle party, but he is a member outside of the 108 stars). In this case, the name of the main character from Suikoden II that appears in Suikoden II will be the one you gave at the start of Suikoden I.

Home base name

The name of the main base cannot be changed during the game.

The name of your base is often called the name you gave it, followed by "castle". For example, if you named your character Tran, it will be called "Tran Castle".

If you transfer data from Suikoden 1 to Suikoden 2, an inn with the same name as the headquarters in Suikoden 1 will appear in Suikoden 2. It is an inn called "XX-tei". However, it's just that an inn with that name will appear, so it's not particularly important.

Level-related

If you raise the level too much, there will be a problem when you transfer the data to Suikoden II (this is an irreversible element). However, in the PS version, there is a trick to reset all characters to level 1, so this problem does not occur.

In addition, there is actually a way to raise each character's level to 96 at the end of the game, and one of the conditions is to keep the level below 36. However, this game can be cleared at around level 60 if you play normally, so there is no need to go to the trouble of raising the level to 96, and you can also achieve level 96 by continuing to fight monsters normally without using this method. This is a matter of hobby, such as wanting to easily see the status of high-level characters. It is definitely more fun to play the game normally without worrying about the levels.

In the PS version, there is a way to reset all characters to level 1, so even characters over level 36 can reach level 96. However, in this case, characters who have been leveled to level 99 using another cheat will also return to level 1. Some characters are difficult to return to a high level due to their fixed crest equipment.

By the way, how to raise a level (how to raise a level from 36 Exp900 or more to 96) is introduced on the "Level-related tricks" page. When raising a character other than the main character to level 96, the second condition is to have a "Lucky Seal Ball", so "characters with fixed emblems" other than the main character cannot be raised to level 96 using the trick.

However, for some characters such as Sheena and Kuromimi, you can recruit them at level 99 from the beginning under different conditions. This is the only way to easily raise Sheena's level to a high level, especially since she has a fixed crest, so if you want to see Sheena at a high level, this is the method to use.

Death during a battle event

During battle events, companion characters may die in battle. If even one companion is killed in battle, the good ending will not be achieved, so it is best to save before the battle event. Companion characters may be "injured" during battle events, but injuries have no effect on the quality of the ending.

Personally, I think Eileen is more likely to die in battle (because I often use the Lepanto Family in battle events). Eileen also appears in Suikoden II, though only in appearance. Even if you transfer data in which Eileen died in battle to Suikoden II, Eileen will still appear in Suikoden II.

Parn can beat Teo

Parn can beat Teo in a one-on-one battle (just under level 30. Raise your weapon level to the highest (12 with Teien. At this point, 9 is the limit for your base), and use the best equipment you can at that point). If Parn is defeated by Teo, you won't get 108 stars and you won't get the good ending. However, even if you transfer data from Suikodenshi 2 to Suikodenshi 2 after Parn has died, Parn will still appear in Suikodenshi 2.

Gremio will come back to life

After conquering the water fortress, Shasalazard, if you collect all 108 stars except for Gremio before the start of the series of battle events to attack the final Gregminster, Gremio will come back to life. If Gremio remains dead, you will not get the good ending.

To revive Gremio, 1) you must recruit Leon Silverberg immediately before or after the end of the battle event at the water fortress of Shasarazado (you can move the main character from the scene where he is standing near the entrance to Shasarazado immediately after the battle event ends, but if you approach the building of Shasarazado after that and start the event, Mash will leave the base and it will be too late), and 2) after you return to the base automatically with Sonia after conquering the water fortress of Shasarazado, you must recruit all 108 stars before talking to Mash even once (if you talk to Mash even once, the event will start and it will be too late).

Collect 108 stars

Depending on the choices and timing, some characters cannot be recruited.

  1. Kwanda Rothman (Pannu Yakta Castle. One of the Five Imperial Generals)

If you choose not to recruit them, you will not be able to recruit them.

  2. Milich Oppenheimer (Scarleticia Castle. One of the Five Imperial Generals)

If you choose not to recruit them, you will not be able to recruit them.

  3. Maximillian, Sancho (Northern Gateway after the capture of Moravia Castle)

If you choose not to recruit them, you will not be able to recruit them. If you refuse to recruit them when you first meet them, I think these two will not appear at the Northern Gateway again.

  4. Leon Silverberg (Military strategist. In Karecca)

Because you will not be able to talk to Mash due to the series of events at the end of the game or due to injuries. You can recruit him after castle level 4. The final time is immediately after the end of the battle event at the water fortress Shasaraza. You will be able to move the protagonist from the scene where he is standing near the entrance of Shasaraza. However, if you approach the building of Shasaraza to start the event after that, Mash will leave the base and it will be too late.

  5. Mace (Blacksmith. In Sheik's Valley)

At the end of the game, after the final Gregminster battle event, Flick and Victor will be forced to join the party, and you will not be able to take Mace's four disciples to Mace. You can recruit him after castle level 4. The final time you can recruit him is just before leaving for the final Gregminster battle. However, even if you recruit Mace at this point, Gremio will not be revived. In order to revive Gremio, you need to recruit Mace after automatically returning to your base with Sonia after conquering the water fortress Shasalazado, but before talking to Mash at least once (if you talk to Mash even once, an event will start and it will be too late. Before talking to Mash, talk to Sanchez to change your party and go to recruit Mace). By the way, Sonia has not yet joined your party at this point, so just to be sure. Talk to Sonia in the cell in the basement of your base and don't forget to recruit Sonia as well.
